		<title>Becoming Sentient</title>

		<description>

Becoming Sentient is an installation set up of a natural history museum representation based in the future. The display shows a number of hyperventilating creatures and some other body-parts. Similar to how modern day natural history museums currently contain specimens in tubular jars, I was largely inspired by the vast Wet Collection in the Natural History Museum in Berlin.

In this iteration, the imaginary museum is designed to be a fuller experience by creating the atmosphere of the space in a way that mimics the underwater environment that is natural to the beings. The audience is given the option of touching some of the body parts, something which traditionally isn't practiced in galleries or museums.

		<description>

Platinwald is a sound-producing installation engaging with tactility through interaction. Using materials not seemingly paired with technology, the piece challenges the notion of existence through the relationship of physicality and the juxtaposition of the intangible aural experience which unfolds before the explorer.

		<description>With this mod, the Casio VL-tone replica is transformed into a programmable sequencer with various arpeggio abilities. Ideal for making prog-rock like patterns or anything rhythmic.

A Casio SK-1 modified with a 4 way joystick-type switch with additional X/Y parameter adjustments. These mods turn it into a very useful tool for live performance, especially effective on the rhythmic 'chord' section.

		<description>In Greek-Cypriot slang, Stochi roughly translates to heavy, hard to digest or unpleasantly overwhelming.&#38;nbsp; Conveying a sensation akin to its origin, Stochi represents a versatile synth encasing double delay and feedback functions. It also contains a VCO, a built-in clock and a noise push button for extra intensity.
It can be used both on its own or as an effect filter.

		<description>Brain Bubble is a live audio-visual piece transmitting inner emotions of anxiety and alienation.The abstracted human figure represents the merging of self with the virtuality of the internet domain. Finding comfort within that realm, so much so that it becomes frustrating having to face reality due to lack of exposure and fear of being misunderstood in the non-digital world.The soundscape has a primal role as it was created during a fluctuating state of anxiety by using EEG technology to translate brainwaves into sound.

		<description>In 2014-2015,Thalia worked for Meoko, a London-based online magazine which promotes electronic music and events internationally.

During this experience, Thalia’s position as the main writer entailed being in charge of scouting for article themes and&#38;nbsp; interviewing DJs.Additional tasks included administrating the web page’s visual layout in regards to her articles as well as managing their appearance on social media or editing other written content.

Communication was of key importance, especially in regards to interviews, in order to create a more fluid dialogue when direct contact with an artist was not an option.Liasing through emails or Skype was crucial to ensure both the manager and the costumer would be satisfied with the written and visual outlook of the promotional material.

Her work can be found on the main website, while here are some examples of interviews,&#38;nbsp;articles and mix descriptions.

		<description>
Thalia
Agroti is a Greek-Cypriot multidisciplinary artist holding academic experience in MFA Computational Arts, MA Sound Arts and BA(hons) Contemporary Media Practice.

She enjoys exploring, fusing and continually learning about different forms of media between the intersection of art
and science.

With
an outmost affinity to the ephemerality of sound, Thalia's practice
has taken a more physical presence through an enhanced curiosity
for materials that can be paired with technology.

In
whichever form her work manifests in, she intuitively engages with
ideas that primarily stem from personal experiences and
introspection.

While
sentimentality is the fuel for her creative drive, the final outcome
is often immersive or interactive in nature, in an effort to bring
forward a mutual understanding for the viewer, or simply to allow
room for playful inquisitiveness.

Her
recent research fuses themes surrounding existentialism with the
non-human, through a speculative approach.</description>
