I joined OXI club as a Booking Assistant and gradually transitioned into the roles of Event & Production Manager and Booker for external events. Over five years, my work developed across booking, event production and the practical realisation of creative ideas, giving me a broad understanding of how events move from an initial concept to a functioning experience.
As Event & Production Manager, I was involved in bringing events to life from the planning stages through to their execution at the club. I worked closely with artists, promoters, technicians, freelancers and other collaborators, coordinating the practical details and solving problems as they arose to make sure events ran as smoothly as possible.
As a Booker, I programmed and produced external events in collaboration with independent promoters and collectives including Soul Feeder, Hypersoft, Sirens, Dissident and Cuddles. This involved working with different creative approaches, musical communities and event formats, while overseing the practical process of turning each promoter's ideas into an event.
I also organised and curated two editions of OXImarkt, a market held in OXI's garden area. The markets brought together independent vendors and members of our team, offering art, records, handmade and upcycled clothing, crafts, accessories and second-hand items, alongside tattoo flash, food and drinks. The curation was closely connected to OXI's team and extended community, whose interests, practices and networks helped shape the selection of vendors and character of the markets. Together, we created a more informal use of the club's outdoor space for browsing, shopping, listening to music or simply spending time in the garden.
This experience became an important part of my wider multidisciplinary practice, connecting my organisational and production skills with my interests in sound, spatial environments and sensory experiences.
Meoko | London | 2014 – 2015
I worked for Meoko, an online magazine promoting electronic music and events internationally.
As the main writer, I was responsible for scouting article themes and interviewing DJs. My role also included managing the visual presentation of my articles on the website, overseeing their appearance on social media, and editing other written content.
Communication was an important part of the role, particularly when conducting interviews remotely. I regularly liaised with artists and their managers via email and video calls, ensuring that both the written content and visual presentation met the expectations of the artist, manager and publication.
